Mechanicsburg Cemetery

The Mechanicsburg Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in this area.  It's located outside of Mechanicsburg Illinois.  The chapel shown in the picture above has many unexplainable stories associated with it.  One person who does odd jobs for the cemetery says he won't be caught in the chapel after it starts to get dark and he definitely won't go into the basement especially at night.  Another lady who was visiting her sons grave realized it was getting dark and since the cemetery closes at dusk she decided to leave.  As she approached her car she looked up towards the chapel just in time to see a shape emerge from the building through the wall.  She described it as having a dog shaped head but standing upright and dressed in white.  This entity ran out into the cemetery area, saw her and then turned around and ran back to the chapel going through the wall and disappearing.  Needless to say this unnerved the woman but what was worse was she had to drive passed the chapel in order to get out of the cemetery.  Car engines have been known to die in a certain area of the cemetery, car lights go out, radios turn on and off.  One time a person told me they were parked just inside the cemetery gates by the chapel at night.  One of the car occupants had the feeling that they didn't want to get out, it just didn't feel right.  Coaxed by the other person, they got out and stood by the car.  As they stood there staring out into the cemetery something or someone, not seen, hit the trunk of the car very hard making a very loud metallic sound.  As they scrambled to get back into the car the doors seemed to be temporarily locked.  This was the last time they visited the cemetery at night.  One day a lady went to the cemetery to walk around and visit several family graves.  When she arrived she was greeted by a black cat that just appeared out of a bush.  This cat followed her around the whole time rubbing up against her legs and the stones.  After her visitation was done she walked back to her car.  It was then she realized the black cat was no where in sight.  It had been with her just seconds before.  A man told me he and a friend was in the cemetery late at night doing some picture and evp work when an unknown pickup truck pulled into the cemetery.  Behind the wheel was a figure who had a very white face and long dark hair.  When the person in the truck spotted this man and his friend he got the most hideous smile on his face and started driving towards them.  They jumped in their car and was chased through the cemetery and out into the country by this person.  More than likely this was someone who thought they would have some fun but it wasn't fun for this man and his friend. Many evps have been received while walking through the cemetery during the day especially in the older section.  If you're into orbs this cemetery never disappoints you.
